Time of Use Information Sheets for the Ausgrid distribution area
From 1 July 2018, Ausgrid (the local network company responsible for the poles and wires) introduced summer and winter 'seasons', which are 1 November to 31 March (summer) and 1 June to 31 August (winter) for both business and residential customers. There are no peak charges during April, May, September and October.

Following these changes to the Time of Use structure, we adjusted the rates across the three time zones (peak, shoulder & off peak).
The cost of energy is charged at different rates and this depends on the time of day you’re using it. With the introduction of Ausgrid's changes, the time of year (season) now also plays a part.
You’ll see what distributor you’re with by referring to the top right of page one of your bill. You’ll also be able to identify if you are on Time of Use if peak, shoulder and off-peak charges are listed on page 3 of your bill.
Following Ausgrid’s change to the time of use structure, we adjusted the rates across the three-time zones (peak, shoulder and off peak).
For most households, the combined impact of these changes will either be a small bill reduction or very little change, based on their usual usage patterns. A small number of customers may see an increase on their bill.

- In the summer season (1 November to 31 March), there are no changes to the time of use time periods.
- In the winter season (1 June to 31 August), the time for peak rates, when energy rates are at their highest, has reduced by two hours per day. Now you are charged peak rates from 5.00pm to 9.00pm (4 hours).
- In April, May, September and October, there are no peak periods at all. The peak period is replaced by an extended shoulder period.
- There are no changes to the weekend times for households or business customers on LoadSmart rates.
- All weekends will now be entirely off-peak for business customers on PowerSmart rates.
