Concessions
As a customer, you may qualify for various concessions administered by EnergyAustralia on behalf of the QLD Government. Eligibility conditions vary and are subject to change from time to time. Please read the information provided for each concession below to see if you are eligible.

The Queensland Electricity Rebate is paid as a daily amount on eligible electricity accounts.

To receive the Queensland Electricity Rebate:
- you must live in Queensland
- you must be a residential customer and claim the concession at your principal place of residence
- you must be responsible for the payment of the energy account
- you must hold an eligible concession card in the same name
Eligible concession cards include:
- Pensioner Concession Card issued by Services Australia or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs
- Services Australia Health Care Card
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card
- Queensland Government Seniors Card
- ImmiCard for Asylum Seekers

If you live in an apartment complex, residential park, retirement village or a granny flat
Contact the person/organisation sending your electricity bill and they will organise an application on your behalf.

The Home Energy Emergency Assistance Scheme helps low-income households pay their current electricity or natural gas bill when they face a short-term financial crisis or an unforeseen emergency.
Rebate value | One-off payments of up to $720 (exempt from GST) to use towards your electricity or natural gas accounts, once every 2 years. |
The Home Energy Emergency Assistance Scheme is available on both electricity and gas accounts.
To be eligible for the scheme you must be responsible for paying the outstanding bill and meet one of the following:
- hold a current concession card; or
- have an income equal to or less than the Australian Government’s maximum income rate for part-age pensioners. You can find out more about the income test for Age Pension at the Services Australia website; or
- be part of EnergyAustralia’s hardship program or on a payment plan.
You must also have experienced:
- a substantial decrease in your household income (e.g. loss/decrease of employment hours, family separation); or
- high unexpected expenses on essential items

Your application will be assessed by the QLD Government and, if successful, we’ll receive the one-off payment to apply onto your account.
