As a customer, you may qualify for various concessions administered by EnergyAustralia on behalf of the NSW Government. Eligibility conditions vary and are subject to change from time to time. Please read the information provided for each concession below to see if you are eligible.
Rebate details in community languages
- The NSW Government’s energy rebates website can translate the rebate eligibility rules, rebate types and rebate amounts in the following community languages:

The NSW Government Low Income Household Rebate is $285 (excl. GST) per annum. This rebate is applied as a daily amount on your electricity bill. The exact amount of the rebate paid on each bill will depend on the number of days in that billing period.
To receive the NSW Low Income Household Rebate, you must:
- live in New South Wales
- be a residential customer
- be a person whose name appears on the account for supply to your principal place of residence
- hold an eligible concession card in the same name
Eligible concession cards include:
- Services Australia Affairs Pensioner Concession Card
- Services Australia Health Care Card
- Services Australia Low Income Health Card
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs Pensioner Concession Card
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card

If you don’t have an account with EnergyAustralia but live in a residential community (caravan or mobile home park):
Residents living in a residential community (caravan or mobile home park) with on-supplied electricity who pay the operator for their electricity usage can also access the NSW Government Low Income Household Rebate. You can apply for this rebate directly with the NSW Government using the attached form.
The NSW Government Gas Rebate is $110 (excl. GST) per annum. This rebate is applied as a daily amount on your gas bill. The exact amount of the rebate paid on each bill will depend on the number of days in that billing period.
To receive the NSW Government Gas Rebate, you must:
- live in New South Wales
- be a residential customer
- be a person whose name appears on the account for supply to your principal place of residence
- hold an eligible concession card in the same name
Eligible concession cards include:
- Services Australia Affairs Pensioner Concession Card
- Services Australia Health Care Card
- Services Australia Low Income Health Card
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs Pensioner Concession Card

If you don’t have an account with EnergyAustralia but live in a residential community (caravan or mobile home park):
If you rely on bottled or metered LPG or live in a on-supplied residential community, retirement village or strata scheme, you can also access the NSW Government Gas Rebate. You can apply for this rebate directly with the NSW Government using the attached form.
The NSW Gas Rebate is available for customers who buy or refill bottled LPG at their principal place of residence. The amount of this rebate is $121 (incl. GST).
Are you eligible for this rebate?
To receive the NSW Government Gas Rebate for LPG Customers, you must
- live in New South Wales
- be a residential customer
- be a person whose name appears on the account for supply to your principal place of residence
- hold one of the following eligible concession cards
- Services Australia Pensioner Concession Card
- Services Australia Health Care Card
- Services Australia Low Income Health Care Card
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs’ Pensioner Concession Card
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs Veteran Gold Card
In addition, you will be required to provide a copy of an invoice that includes
- your name
- your principal place of residence as the delivery address
- the date of purchase
- the name and contact details of the LPG or bottled gas supplier, in a stamped or printed format and
- evidence of reticulated LPG supply or at least 45 kilograms or 88 litres of LPG or other gas bottles or refills of such bottles
Customers who are not eligible for this rebate:
- Commonwealth Seniors Health Card holders
- LPG customers who use 'SWAP&GO' BBQ bottles, or bottled gas less than 45 kg/88 litres in mass
- gas hot water customers with usage measured in litres – check your gas bill to see how your usage is measured
- customers billed for an unmetered gas service
What do you need to apply
Applications for this rebate must be made directly with Service NSW.
Service NSW will require the following from you in order to complete the application
- your concession card details
- your bank account details (as payment is made directly to your bank account)
- a printed (not hand-written) copy of your latest gas bill (JPG or PDF file) which must have:
- your name and address printed on it
- the most recent meter reading dates for your household (taken after 1 July in the current financial year and less than 3 months old)
- for bottled LPG customers, the bill must have been issued in the current financial year
Note: bills for additional services, such as service charge or equipment fee are not accepted.
How to apply
You can apply for the NSW Gas Rebate with Service NSW.
If you're unable to apply online:

The NSW Medical Energy Rebate provides assistance with electricity bills for eligible concession card holders where a household member has a medical condition that affects their ability to regulate body temperature.
The NSW Government Medical Energy Rebate is $285 (excl. GST) per annum. This rebate is applied as a daily amount on your electricity bill. The exact amount of the rebate paid on each bill will depend on the number of days in that billing period.
This rebate can be paid in addition to the NSW Government Low Income Household Rebate.
To receive the NSW Medical Energy Rebate:
- you must live in NSW
- you must be a residential customer and claim the rebate at your principal place of residence
- you must be a person whose name appears on the electricity account for supply to your principal place of residence
- you must hold one of the following cards:
- Services Australia Pensioner Concession Card
- Services Australia Health Care Card
- Services Australia Low Income Health Care Card
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs’ Pensioner Concession Card
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs Veteran Gold Card
- you must demonstrate that you or another person who lives at the same address, has been treated by a registered medical practitioner for at least 3 months; and
- you must have had a registered medical practitioner assess you or another person who lives at the same address, as having an inability to self-regulate body temperature and a primary qualifying condition and a secondary qualifying condition
Primary qualifying conditions include any of the following:
- autonomic system dysfunction, being medical conditions in which the autonomic system has been damaged
- loss of skin integrity or loss of sweating capacity
- objective reduction of physiological functioning at extremes of environmental temperatures
- hypersensitivity to extremes of environmental temperature leading to increased pain or other discomfort or an increased risk of complications
Secondary qualifying concessions include any of the following:
- severe immobility
- demonstrated significant loss of autonomic regulation of sweating, heart rate or blood pressure
- demonstrated loss of physiological function or significant aggravation of clinical condition at extremes of environmental temperature

If you don’t have an account with EnergyAustralia but live in a residential community (caravan or mobile home park):
Residents living in a residential community (caravan or mobile home park) with on-supplied electricity who pay the operator for their electricity usage can also access the NSW Government Medical Energy Rebate. You can apply for this rebate directly with the NSW Government using the attached form.
The NSW Government Life Support Rebate provides additional financial support to customers who require the use of specific life support machines in their home. If you have more than one type of life support machine in your home you are eligible to receive more than one rebate.
This rebate can be paid in addition to the NSW Government Low Income Household Rebate and the NSW Government Medical Energy Rebate. You don’t have to be a concession card holder to be eligible to receive this rebate.
To receive the NSW Life Support Rebate, you must:
- live in NSW
- be a residential customer and claim the rebate at your principal place of residence
- be a person whose name appears on the electricity account for supply to your principal place of residence
- have an approved life support equipment which is used by yourself or another person who lives at the same address
The current daily rates for approved life support equipment are:

To be eligible for this rebate, you must submit a valid application form which has been signed by a registered medical practitioner.
The exact amount of the rebate paid on each bill will depend on the number of days in that billing period and which machine type you are using. This rebate is applied to electricity accounts only.

The Family Energy Rebate assists families with managing their energy costs and it’s only available to residential customers who receive the Commonwealth Government’s Family Tax Benefit A or B.
Applications for the 2025/2026 NSW Family Energy Rebate are open and are made directly with Services NSW.
Eligibility
To receive the NSW Family Energy Rebate, you must:
- live in New South Wales
- be a residential customer
- be a person whose name appears on the account for supply to your principal place of residence
- have received the Family Tax Benefit A or B in the previous financial year
- lodged your tax return for the previous financial year with the Australian Tax Office
- have finalised your entitlement to the Family Tax Benefit payments with Centrelink
The Family Energy Rebate is $180 (excl. GST) for non-concession card holders and $20 (excl. GST) for concession card holders. The amount you are eligible to receive will be determined by the NSW Government. If you are approved, EnergyAustralia will be notified of the amount to be applied to your electricity account. Payment will be applied as a lump sum amount.

The NSW Seniors Energy Rebate is available for eligible independent retirees to help cover the cost of their electricity.
Applications for the NSW Seniors Energy Rebate are made directly with Service NSW.
The NSW Seniors Energy Rebate amount is $220 (incl. GST) per household per financial year and it available to electricity accounts only.
Eligibility
To receive the NSW Seniors Energy Rebate, you must:
- live in New South Wales
- be a residential customer
- be the named person on the electricity account for supply to your principal place of residence
- hold a valid Commonwealth Seniors Health Card
- not be a recipient of the NSW Government Household Rebate
What you need to apply
- a MyServiceNSW Account
- your valid Commonwealth Seniors Health Card from Centrelink or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs
- your most recent electricity bill from us
- your contact details
- your bank or Credit Union account details
How to apply
Check you meet the eligibility requirements:
- Select the 'Apply online' button with Service NSW
- Log in, or create your MyServiceNSW Account
- Enter the required details
- Submit the application
If you're unable to apply online, visit a service centre or call Service NSW on 13 77 88.
If your application is successful, you'll receive payment within 5 working days into your nominated bank/Credit Union account. Service NSW will contact you if there are problems issuing your payment.
If your application is unsuccessful, you'll be notified during the application process.
