Is Midday Power Saver right for you?
Run through these three checks to see if the offer suits your household.
You're a residential customer in Victoria.
Your home has a smart meter which does not need to be manually read.
Renters can sign up too, as long as you're authorised to do so for your property.
You're often home during the day –working from home, retired or on shift work.
You can run appliances like the washing machine, dishwasher or pool pump, or charge an EV, in the middle of the day.
Most of your electricity use isn't in the evening or overnight.
You don't have a rooftop solar system.
You'd like a way to benefit from daytime solar energy from the grid.
If you already have solar, you're likely benefiting from your own electricity generation at midday, so this offer may not be the best fit for you.
Key things to consider
You must opt in
Midday Power Saver is a standalone time-of-use electricity plan. You won't be moved onto it automatically, so you'll need to switch plans to access the offer.
Savings aren't automatic
You'll only benefit if you move some of your usage into the free period. If you can't shift when you use electricity, you could pay more than you would on another plan.
Free usage is capped
Free electricity usage is capped at 24 kWh per day calculated across your billing period. Anything above that is charged at your applicable rates.
Other charges still apply
The daily supply charge, controlled load charges (if applicable) and any electricity used outside the free period are still charged.
Rates outside the free usage period may be higher
It's worth reviewing your total usage across the whole day not just the free usage period, before you switch.
You can switch at any time
There's no lock-in contract. If the plan doesn't suit you, you can change plans in line with our Standing Offer terms and conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Electricity used during the free usage period is included at no cost for the usage component of your bill, up to a daily limit (reasonable use cap) of 24 kWh. If you go over the cap, applicable rates apply to the extra usage. Your free electricity usage is calculated as an average across your billing period, which could benefit you more than a strict daily limit.
This means lower usage on one day can offset higher usage above the cap on another. For example: If you use 14 kWh one day and 34 kWh the next, that averages to 24 kWh per day - so all of that usage remains within the reasonable use cap for both days.
This plan may not be ideal. Plans without a free middle of the day window may better suit your usage.
It’s free up to 24 kWh per day only for the usage component of your bill and is calculated as an average across your billing period. Any usage above this limit is charged at applicable usage rates.
Your bill will show:
- Free usage (during the Midday Power Saver period)
- Usage above the 24 kWh reasonable use cap charged at applicable rates
- Time-of-use charges for other periods (outside the free usage period)
- Your daily supply charge
- Controlled load charges (if applicable)
Your bill will look different to a flat rate plan because usage is shown across different time periods.
The free usage period is regulated and consistent, so all eligible customers across the state receive the same benefit.
If you’re an EnergyAustralia customer, you can check your electricity usage in My Account, where it’s shown in hourly intervals. This helps you see how much electricity you use during the Midday Power Saver free usage period.
If you’re not yet a customer, you can review your recent electricity bills or meter data, if available, to estimate how much energy you use during the middle of the day.
If your usage during those hours is consistently high, you may be more likely to exceed the 24 kWh per day over your billing period. Reviewing your usage can also help you identify opportunities to shift more usage into the free usage period.
