This contract applies if you're currently receiving your energy bills from EnergyAustralia and you haven’t signed up to a market contract.

For new connections, this contract applies if EnergyAustralia is the local retailer for your area and you haven’t signed up to a market contract.

What happens if I haven’t set up an account and I’m using energy?

If you’ve moved into a home or business premises and haven’t set up your account with a retailer, the energy you are using is under a ‘deemed arrangement’.  Once you set up the account with us, we can backdate the account from the date you moved in.

What’s a ‘deemed arrangement’?

A deemed arrangement is a contract that automatically applies when you haven’t set up an account. The terms and conditions are the same as our standard retail contract and any energy you use will be charged at our standing offer rates (our Basic Home and Basic Business plans).  You must pay for any electricity or gas you use. The rates for these plans are available below:

Basic Home and Basic Business plans outline the deemed arrangement pricing, these plans don’t have discounts or other benefits of being an Energy Australia customer.

To sign up to a Basic Energy plan, please complete the energy supply application form. We can then set up your account so that we can continue to supply you with energy.

Going forward, we can offer you a better priced plan (one of our market offers) with your consent. To discuss backdated charges and best priced plans, you can contact us through:
