Recovery operations are underway at the TRUenergy Yallourn mine today, following collapse of a section of the Morwell River Diversion which allowed water into the mine.

A team has been working overnight to reduce the flow of water into the mine and to establish alternative means of transporting coal to the Yallourn power station.

Additional trucks and equipment have been brought in to transport coal to the power station.

The power station is continuing to supply power although at a reduced capacity with only one unit in operation.

While water levels are subsiding, coal conveyors damaged yesterday remain inaccessible. Until safe access is possible, Mine Management is unable to confirm thefull extent of the damage and when full mining operations will be restored.
