EnergyAustralia is warning consumers of a scam involving unsolicited e-mails containing links to fictitious accounts or seeking payments on behalf of EnergyAustralia.

EnergyAustralia said “billing@energyaustra1ia.com” was one of the addresses being used. These e-mails should be deleted immediately.

If you receive a suspicious e-mail do not click on links, do not make payments and no not disclose your financial information.

If you are uncertain or need help, contact our customer service centre on 133 466.

Our consultants can verify the status of your account and whether you have been legitimately contacted by EnergyAustralia or an agent of the company.

If you do receive an e-mail you believe may be a scam, please lodge it with the Federal Government's Scam Watch website found at www.scamwatch.gov.au or call the ScamWatch ACCC Info Centre on 1300 795 995.

We encourage you to contact your local police if you believe you may be the victim of fraud.
