How am I actually helping the environment?

By opting-in you are helping EnergyAustralia support eligible emission reduction projects.  

 

We do this by purchasing eligible carbon offsets units which support projects that reduce emissions, such as renewable energy projects in developing countries or land management and tree planting in Australia.

 

When these verified projects are operating they create carbon offset units that represent one tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent reduced. 

 

We will purchase these carbon offset units on behalf of our customers, to match the emissions released to produce your electricity – making your electricity carbon neutral.
