National Reconciliation Week (NRW) commemorates our nation's reconciliation history such as the successful 1967 referendum, the 20th anniversary of the Bridge Walk for Reconciliation in Sydney, and the High Court Mabo decision.
This year's theme is 'In this together', with NRW activities aimed to promote the importance of inclusivity and education running from 27 May to 3 June.
At EnergyAustralia, most of our people are working from home at the moment, but we were able to run events and activities online to help celebrate and promote NRW and the #inthistogether theme.
We also encouraged our people to learn about the historic national reconciliation events that have shaped this country as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
Activities this year included online documentary screenings and a Q&A session, an online damper making session and a children’s pack for EnergyAustralia staff to download and share with family and friends.
After all, NRW is not only about learning more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, peoples and achievements, but also the importance of sharing that knowledge widely to build greater understanding.
