Coming out to your family. Asking for support. Speaking up for someone else when it would be easier to stay quiet. These are all acts of courage.
This week, for Wear It Purple Day, we took some time to recognise and talk about these acts of courage and the impact they have. Our LGBTQA+ team members and allies gathered across all our sites, sharing stories and a cupcake together.
This year’s theme, Colours of Courage, leans on colour as a stand-in for difference - every identity, every story, every shade of experience, all part of the same picture. No two are the same, and that's the point.
WIPD started in 2010, to raise awareness of the devastating impact of bullying people about their sexuality or gender identity. It's grown into a global movement built on one message: everybody has the right to be proud of who they are.
We've marked WIPD for over a decade now – purple t-shirts, onesies and all – because feeling safe enough to bring your whole self to work shouldn't be a big ask. It's part of our culture, and one reason we were awarded Gold in the Inclusion Awards in 2025 and 2026.

“When we make EA a place where people feel safe being themselves, we also build a workplace where people feel safe speaking up. It's the same culture,” Kate said.
