The Block Sky High has chosen EnergyAustralia as its official energy partner for the 2013 series, providing a platform to promote the business, its eWise portal and other energy efficient products and solutions.

The partnership involves extensive in-program content, television advertisements in the key markets of Victoria, Adelaide and NSW, as well as the right to use The Block Sky High logo in customer communications.

This season of The Block Sky High is promoting itself as the most sustainable ever as contestants seek to have their South Melbourne apartments rated as Victoria’s first eight-star energy efficient homes.

EnergyAustralia representatives will be providing advice to the competing couples on how to make their homes more efficient as well as installing energy-saving technology including solar hot water and PV panels, LED lights, and in-home displays.

A key part of the partnership will be the couples’ use of EnergyAustralia’s eWise portal which gives residential electricity customers a clear and personalised view of how they use energy and how they compare to similar homes in their area.

Recent winners of The Block Allstars, Phil and Amity, will star in an advertisement, developed by Leo Burnett, to promote the eWise portal. The advertisement has been made specifically for the series and will be launched over coming weeks.

EnergyAustralia’s Group Executive Manager of Retail, Adrian Merrick, said that partnering with such a strong media property, The Block would make the EnergyAustralia brand synonymous with energy efficiency.

“We understand that with pressure on household budgets, customers want more information and support to make informed choices about their energy,” Mr Merrick said.

“By partnering with this icon of home renovation, this is a great opportunity to showcase how our products and services provide home owners with innovative solutions to take control of their energy use.

“The Block Sky High is the perfect property for us to show Australians how the eWise portal can help them take control of their energy use.

“As the rivalry between couples heats up, the eWise portal adds another element to the competition with contestants vying to make their apartments the most energy efficient.

“The eWise portal will allow viewers an insight into which team created the most energy efficient apartment.”
