EnergyAustralia today announces the appointment of Bob Grant as the company’s incoming Chair, following Jane McAloon’s decision to step down after more than three years in the role and 13 years on the Board.

In recent years, the company has continued to strengthen its energy portfolio and progress investments in flexible generation, battery storage, and hydro projects that support Australia’s clean energy transition. EnergyAustralia has also introduced a range of initiatives designed to make the business more sustainable, inclusive, and customer-focused.

Mr Grant joined the EnergyAustralia Board in 2020 and is the current Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee and Regulatory Compliance Committee, and is a member of the Nominations, People and Remuneration Committee. He has also previously served on the Sustainability Committee.

He brings more than three decades of senior finance leadership experience spanning the energy and infrastructure sectors for both Australian and multi-national publicly-listed companies. He was previously Chief Financial Officer at both Service Stream, where he oversaw financial management and planning, reporting, treasury, taxation and corporate services, and Tenix. Prior to that, he also held senior roles in wholesale energy trading, risk management, and finance at AGL and Shell.

The leadership change will take effect on 31 December 2025 to ensure an orderly handover. To support the transition, Ms McAloon will then remain as a strategic adviser to CLP Holdings.

Bob’s deep sector knowledge, experience and outstanding insights will be invaluable as EnergyAustralia continues to navigate the evolving energy landscape.

My sincere thanks go to my fellow Board members, our Managing Director Mark Collette, the company’s leaders and team, and CLP for their collaboration and support.
