EnergyAustralia commits to Lithgow region with Mt Piper upgrades
EnergyAustralia today announced it will invest more than $80 million in operational upgrades at its Mt Piper power station near Lithgow to expand the plant’s capacity by 60 megawatts, or enough electricity to power an additional 55,000 New South Wales homes.
The Yallourn power station generates enough electricity every day to supply 2 million Australian homes. More than 500 people work at the plant and it spends millions of dollars every year with local businesses.
On the afternoon of Monday 12 November 2018, Graeme Edwards, a Unit Controller at the Yallourn power station, was fatally injured after reinstalling a high-voltage circuit breaker on one of the plant’s four generation units.
