EA04-01-03-02-01 Tallawarra Community

Consultation plays a key role in helping us to gain a greater understanding of the Illawarra community’s opinions, priorities and expectations.

Community liaison group

We have been meeting and talking with the local community since 2003. To support an ongoing consultation process, we established a Community Liaison Group (CLG) which meets regularly to provide invaluable feedback into our formal planning process.

In addition to our CLG, we also give the broader community opportunities to provide feedback through our community information sessions, local newspapers and newsletters.

Feedback from stakeholders is continually fed back into our planning process and will continue to inform our plans for the Tallawarra Lands site.

Community Grants Program

In 2016, EnergyAustralia Tallawarra will provide community grant funding to support locally-based initiatives which deliver positive and sustainable difference to the Illawarra region.
We encourage proposals for projects that address one or more of these priority areas:
  • Community development: Youth support, health, education and social engagement.
  • Benefiting the environment: conservation and rehabilitation.
  • Supporting the local economy: Training, employment and local economic growth.

Access to community amenities at Lake Illawarra foreshore

With the sale of the Tallawarra site, a substantial section of the lake foreshore was set aside for public use and is now owned and managed by the Lake Illawarra Authority.

Visitors can access the foreshore and surrounding recreational areas using Yallah Bay Road or Gilba Road at Elizabeth Point. Amenities are available to the community near the public car park at the end of Yallah Bay Road.

We will continue to work with the Lake Illawarra Authority on developing this important local facility for further recreational use.
