Sue Elliott

EnergyAustralia today announced the appointment of Sue Elliott as Executive - Operations and Projects reporting to Managing Director Mark Collette.

Ms Elliott is currently Energy Operations Executive with responsibility for coal and gas generation assets having joined EnergyAustralia in 2020 as Head of Operations Excellence.  Previously, she was with ExxonMobil for 25 years including a range of operational leadership roles at Esso Australia including Safety, Security, Health, Environment and Regulatory Manager, Gippsland Basin Optimisation Manager and Offshore Oil Asset Manager.

Commenting on Ms Elliott’s appointment, Mr Collette said: “Sue is known as a leader for her collaborative and well-planned approach.  Our people have improved our generation fleet and asset management plans under Sue’s leadership, and I am delighted to see we are growing talent and promoting from within.”

Ms Elliott’s appointment follows the retirement of Michael Hutchinson who joined EnergyAustralia in December last year on an interim basis from CLP in Hong Kong.

Mr Collette added: “This has been a critical time with some of our assets approaching end of life and requiring additional maintenance and investment to ensure they operate safely and with the reliability our customers expect.

“We were fortunate to be able to persuade Michael to delay his retirement to join us last year and he quickly reconnected with everyone across EnergyAustralia. We thank him for his service and wish him well in his retirement.”

Mr Hutchinson will retire on 10 December after a transition over the next couple of months as EnergyAustralia commences a program of major planned outages at Yallourn and the completion of Tallawarra B to be ready in summer 2023. Sue will join the Energy Australia Executive Leadership Team from 1 September.
