Government assistance
If you’re having difficulty paying your energy bills, you may be able to get government assistance if you’re eligible. We can also organise payments via Centrelink.
The Australian Government announced in the 2025-2026 Budget, a $1.8 billion extension of the Energy Bill Relief Fund.
Australian households and eligible small businesses with electricity bills will receive up to $150 in energy bill rebates from 1 July 2025 to 31 December 2025. Most customers don’t need to do anything to receive this rebate.
Rebates will be automatically applied to your electricity bill in two $75 quarterly instalments.
How much is the new rebate?
All households and eligible small businesses will receive a $150 rebate, paid in two $75 instalments.
The only exception is in Victoria where a lump sum payment of $150 will be made for eligible small businesses.

Embedded Network Properties:

We’ll update this information once we know more.
The Energy Bill Relief payment for ACT, NSW, SA and VIC customers will be applied per customer. This means, where you have multiple electricity accounts linked to you, only one rebate is applied.
The Energy Bill Relief payment for QLD customers will be applied per account. This means, where you have multiple electricity accounts linked to you, a rebate is applied to each of these accounts.
This payment will only be applied to electricity accounts.
Payments will be automatically applied to eligible electricity accounts shortly after the eligibility dates listed above.
You’ll find the payment listed as ‘Australian Government Energy Bill Relief’ in the ‘Adjustments, other fees and charges’ section of your bill.
You’ll receive any future instalments on your electricity account at your new home.
You’ll receive any future instalments on your electricity account from your new energy retailer.
To be eligible, your business must be on a separately metered business tariff, and your business’ total annual electricity consumption (aggregating consumption of all sites using the ABN/ACN to identify relevant sites) must be less than the threshold for your state or territory.
The energy consumption threshold is:
- 40MWh in VIC
- 100MWh in the ACT, NSW and QLD
- 160MWh in SA
If you meet this criteria, you don’t need to do anything to receive this rebate.
Small business payments are made per company and not per account, with the payment made to the electricity account with the lowest account number. This means, if you have more than one small business electricity account with us, only one account will receive the rebate.
This payment will only be applied to electricity accounts.

Eligible small businesses will be provided with a one-off lump sum rebate of $650, rather than a quarterly payment. The payment will be credited on 2024-25 electricity bills by their embedded network operator.
Under this scheme, an embedded network operator will apply for relief from their energy retailer on behalf of the small businesses on its network. Eligible small businesses do not need to apply directly.
