The Redback Smart Hybrid Solar Inverter converts energy from your solar panels into energy which can be used in your home. It has been designed for Australian conditions and features always-on, intelligent energy management. This maximises your home’s use of the solar energy it has generated.
The Redback Smart Hybrid Solar System comprises of the Redback Smart Hybrid Solar Inverter, the Redback Smart Hybrid Battery Enclosure and batteries from leading battery supplier LG Chem. This provides you with the ability to store any excess energy your solar panels have generated during the day, and use this at a later time. It may also allow you to backup critical circuits in your home in the event of a blackout; however this requires back-up wiring at an additional cost.

The dimensions for this unit are 516mm x 1205mm x 280mm (W x H x D) and it typically weighs 130kg with batteries installed, however this will vary depending on the number of batteries installed and their capacity.
If you decide to purchase a battery with your Redback Smart Hybrid Solar Inverter from EnergyAustralia, it will be paired with a battery enclosure, which allows for different capacity battery units to be installed. At launch, EnergyAustralia is offering a choice of battery capacities from 3.3kWh to 13kWh provided by industry leader, LG Chem.
The Redback Smart Hybrid System is capable of providing back-up power to selected circuits in the home in the event of a blackout, when the back-up wiring option is selected at the time of purchase. Additional costs apply. In the event of a blackout, the Redback system can provide up to 5KW of back-up power, from:
- Energy generated by your solar panels, if the panels are producing energy (e.g. during daylight hours
- Energy stored in batteries (if present).
The instantaneous power available and duration of backup is determined by the amount of power being produced by your solar panels during the blackout, the battery model installed, the amount of energy stored in your battery (if present) prior to a blackout and the amount of energy being used in your home during the blackout.
Yes, with the modular battery options available with the Redback System, you can choose or upgrade your system with 3.3, 6.6, 9.9 or 13kWh of battery capacity from a leading battery supplier LG Chem.
