EnergyAustralia acquired the 116-hectare Marulan site, about two hours south-west of Sydney, in 2010.

The site is favourably close to existing gas and electrical infrastructure, including being adjacent to high-voltage transmission and a switchyard. This makes the site attractive for a new energy project that could help to fill emerging capacity gaps in the National Electricity Market and supply energy to consumers.

State Planning Approval is presently in place for a gas-fired generator which remains valid until late 2024, however, we are also exploring a range of other potential energy technologies that could be developed on the site.

We will always consult the community on any new potential projects.

We remain excited about the potential for development at Marulan which could provide an economic boost to the local area, help to secure energy supply and support the energy transition.
