EnergyAustralia today announced Alastair McKeown will join the business as Chief Financial Officer. Mr McKeown, currently CFO at electricity distributor Victoria Power Networks (CitiPower and Powercor), will start in his new role at EnergyAustralia in June.

Before Victoria Power Networks, Mr McKeown was Finance Director at key business units of Centrica plc, a customer-focussed multinational gas and electricity business with headquarters in the United Kingdom. A chartered accountant, Mr McKeown also held senior finance roles at Serco Group plc and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Andrew Perry will move from his current position as CFO to Executive Next-Generation Energy Products & Services, where he’ll have an integral role leading the growth of EnergyAustralia.

EnergyAustralia Managing Director Catherine Tanna said: “Our ability to attract people of Alastair’s quality says something very positive about the business we are building at EnergyAustralia. Alastair has spent more than two decades in senior finance roles in the energy sector and has earned a reputation for getting things done, from business-wide transformation, mergers and acquisitions to procurement. I am delighted he has agreed to join EnergyAustralia.”

In addition to his background in business transformation, Mr McKeown is highly-regarded for his work in strategy design and execution, corporate finance and for his commitment to personal development in the teams he leads.

“I’m thrilled to join EnergyAustralia. The progress the business has made in the past two years is outstanding and it’s being noticed throughout the industry. EnergyAustralia’s customer numbers are up, complaints are down and there’s a solid financial platform in place. The business has an exciting future and I’m looking forward to continuing the great work that’s been done already,” Mr McKeown said.

Originally from Belfast, McKeown and his family now call Melbourne home. He is married to an Australian and has two children.
