The Kerosene Vale ash repository is now under care and maintenance, following the closure of Wallerawang in 2014.
The Kerosene Vale ash repository will now form a part of Wallerawang power station’s rehabilitation plans.
Kerosene Vale was used as an ash dam for Wallerawang Power Station from 1960 to 1990. At this time it had reached capacity and was capped. In 2003 it was then re-opened as dry ash repository to accept dry ash from Wallerawang Power Station. Approvals to expand the dry storage at Kerosene Vale were granted in 2008 (stage 2A) and in 2012 (Stage 2B).
