As bushfires continue to burn throughout the country, we know many in our community are doing it tough.

EnergyAustralia has committed to a package of measures to help communities and customers with immediate relief efforts and the rebuilding process, including an immediate financial contribution of $125,000.

Where customers have been directly impacted by the fires, we’ve put their energy bills on hold for the time being. Customers don’t have to do anything as we’ve applied these measures automatically. The last thing they want to worry about is their energy bills.

For customers who have lost their homes or small businesses, we will waive any monies owing on accounts. We have a dedicated team who are providing priority assistance to customers who have lost their homes or have been evacuated. Customers can call 1800 120 084.

To support communities impacted by bushfires we have also committed to the following measures:

  • EnergyAustralia customers who are volunteer firefighters will receive a $150 credit on either their Gas or Electricity account. Customers simply need to call us and reference their emergency service ID.
  • Donation of $100,000 to emergency support agencies and charities in the heavily impacted East Gippsland (Victoria) and Lithgow (New South Wales) regions, areas where EnergyAustralia has a strong community presence through its power stations.
  • Donation of $25,000 to our charity partner Foodbank Victoria to help get supplies of food, water and other necessities to impacted regions.
  • Offering energy re-connections free of charge when customers who have lost their homes move into a new residence.
  • Matching funds donated by staff to bushfire relief efforts, dollar for dollar. Our parent company CLP will also match our staff donations.
  • Expanded volunteering opportunities for our employees so they can contribute to immediate relief efforts and, when the time is right, help to rebuild communities impacted by bushfires.
  • Doubled the number of days of paid leave for emergency response volunteers, including firefighters. EnergyAustralia employees will now have access to 20 days of paid leave in any year to assist in emergency situations.

We will continue to monitor events and engage with relevant agencies and local community organisations on how we and our people can best help.
