Small business solar
Solar energy benefits the environment, the community and your company’s electricity and tax bills.
Solar for your small business
Looking to build on your company’s sustainability efforts? If your workplace roof is strong, roomy and free from shade during the day, your business could be ideal for generating clean, efficient solar power.
With solar, the sky’s the limit
By switching to solar, not only are you contributing to clean energy creation, but you could also receive savings on energy bills, be eligible for upfront rebates and a small business tax write-off.
Let’s start with the rebates. There are two types, both of which our solar consultants can help you navigate:
- Upfront rebates - You’ll receive these at the time of purchase. These are known as Small-Scale Technology Certificates or STCs
- Feed-in tariffs - These are also known as solar credits or solar bonuses. These are the ongoing returns you could receive under your state government’s feed-in tariff scheme.
Tax incentive for solar power systems
From the 2012-13 tax year, small businesses in Australia can immediately write off depreciating assets that cost less than $6,500, including solar power systems. This incentive applies to businesses with an aggregated turnover (include connected or affiliated businesses) of less than $2 million a year.
