How to read your PowerSmart Bill

Understanding your Bill

Our energy bill has been designed to make your account simple to read and easy to understand. The sample bill and explanations below take you through each of the main sections on a typical bill.

Please note: The bill illustrated is a sample only that does not reflect actual rates or charges.

Time of Use PowerSmart Bill Sample
Your electricity bill shows the PowerSmart rates and as a result, looks a little different.

Your bill is split into 2 components:

1. Energy charges
Shows the actual electricity used and rates for peak, shoulder and off-peak.

2. Service availability charge
Covers maintenance, metering and administration. This is a fee that applies to all PowerSmart Home accounts and also customers who are being billed on traditional flat rates..

If you’ve been upgraded to a PowerSmart meter part way through a billing period, your first bill will include charges at both the old and the new rates.

Please note: In addition to the new PowerSmart rates, if you had Off Peak 1 or Off Peak 2 shown on your bills before you were billed under PowerSmart rates, you’ll continue to pay the same current regulated rates for this supply.
