The lesson plans form part of the Teacher's Resource Kit - developed by EnergyAustralia in conjunction with a panel of primary school teachers. Aimed at students aged 10-12 years, the lesson plans aim to educate students about electricity and safety, and to assist them in preventing accidents around the home and in the community.
There are eight lessons and each lesson takes approximately 30-40 minutes.
The lessons contain the following teaching tools:
- Lesson plan
- Discussion picture
- Worksheets
- Overheads
- Student activities
To help engage students, a character called Zappa has been created. Zappa is a wild electron who looks for ways to escape where he lives – such as frayed power cords, fallen electrical power lines or electricity power stations. Zappa features in the Teacher's Resource Kit and the electricity and safety video which is the focus of Lesson one. Click here to download a handout explaining who Zappa is.
