Winning Gold for the CBD Augmentation Project

Enerserve’s superior planning, execution and innovation during the CBD Augmentation Project has helped EnergyAustralia and Transgrid to secure Engineering Australia’s Sir William Hudson Award – recognised as the nation’s most prestigious Engineering Award.

Enerserve provided project management, design and construction services for its part of the $435 million Sydney CBD Electricity Augmentation Project. This project is the most significant boost to the CBD’s electricity infrastructure, capacity and capability since the introduction of electric streetlighting 100 years ago.

Queenstown Project

Enerserve was awarded the contract for the redevelopment of the Transend owned Queenstown substation, on the west coast of Tasmania. The project involved upgrading the substation’s 11kV, 22kV and 110kV assets. The redevelopment work eliminated substantial sub-standard clearances and improves supply reliability in the area, particularly to a neighbouring copper mine.

Some of the upgrades included:

  • Construction of a new control building
  • Replacement of outdoor 22kV and 11kV switchgear with indoor switchgear
  • Provision of a new SCADA system
  • Provision of new station transformers, battery systems, AC and DC boards
  • Provision of protection and voltage regulation systems for four (4) transformers
  • Provision of underfrequency and 110kV busbar protection systems
  • Demolition of redundant infrastructure

The project was completed at the end of 2004.
