Electrical Engineering – Traineeships

Come back to this website soon as we're in the process of creating a new website for traineeships, which will allow you to view videos and hear more from our trainees.

Our Electrical Engineering traineeship program combines study for Electrical Technology (Advanced Diploma) at TAFE and industrial experience at EnergyAustralia.

Upon completion of the traineeship, you’ll be eligible for appointment as a para-professional with EnergyAustralia.

You’ll need a genuine interest in the field of Electrical Engineering and wish to pursue a career in the industry. The traineeship is awarded not only on academic marks, but a combination of academic results and personal attributes and skills.

How to Apply

If you’re interested in electrical engineering, and you want to go to TAFE, why not go for it?
A traineeship with us will allow you the best of both worlds and ready you for success.
Our program offers a lively, hands-on career where you’ll be working with experienced
professionals and a friendly team. We’ll value you as an asset and treat you as such from day one.
A POSITIVE STARTING BLOCK
We have over 100 years’ experience and take real pride in looking after our electricity network across Sydney, the Central Coast and the Hunter. As a trainee with one of Australia’s largest energy suppliers, you’ll join a growing industry that has a wide range of great career opportunities. On the traineeship program, you’ll earn while you learn, gain national qualifications, enjoy a nine-day fortnight and develop your career with a team that’s only interested in seeing you succeed.

A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE IS WHAT YOU’LL MAKE
A career in the electricity industry allows you to make a contribution to society, and that’s what it’s all about. You’ll be providing the community with energy for life and making a difference in all that you do. You’ll have broad, challenging career options presented to you, and you’ll gain experience in many areas of interest.

A POSITIVE ASSET
Being on the frontline is a big deal. You’ll be meeting the needs of our 1.5 million customers and helping to deliver our $3.7 billion capital works plan to 2010 and beyond. We know you’re an essential asset and we’ll invest in you.
THE DETAILS
Our program combines part-time study for Electrical Technology (Advanced Diploma) at TAFE with work experience at EnergyAustralia. This is a four-year part-time course, and each week, when TAFE is in session, we’ll give you a day to study. Work experience at EnergyAustralia
allows you at least four, one-year rotations, and you’ll get a variety of positions to choose from. Right from day one, you’ll be treated as a valued member of the team and given real responsibilities.
PART OF THE POSITIVE PARCEL
On top of paying you a weekly salary, we’ll also pay for your TAFE studies and compulsory textbooks (subject to conditions). And at the end of it all, you’ll be eligible to apply for a promotion to an engineering officer role at EnergyAustralia.
