EnergyAustralia, operators of the 111MW Waterloo wind farm, are pleased to announce the recipients for Round 1 of the 2014 Waterloo Wind Farm Community Fund.
The Pygmy Bluetongue Conservation Association, Manoora Hall Committee, Saddleworth District Community Association and Marrabel & District Community Hall will each receive a share of $10,000 in grant funding for their nominated community projects.
Each project has been selected by a panel comprised of EnergyAustralia employee representatives and members of our Mid North Community Liaison Group.
The grants will enable a much needed upgrade to the 100 year old Marrabel Hall; new equipment to support the Pygmy Bluetongue Conservation Association; a portable public address system for Manoora and an information bay to promote the Saddleworth township.
EnergyAustralia’s South Australian Operations Manager Mike Clee said he was delighted to be able to support a diverse range of projects that would deliver significant benefits to the local community.
“We received an overwhelming response to our call for submissions – with a total of 24 applications requesting over $100,000 in grant funding. We’re really pleased with this response and, in particular, to see so many innovative and worthy projects being initiated by the community.”

Mr Clee said EnergyAustralia’s Community Liaison Group had played a key role in reviewing shortlisted applications and helping to determine the allocation of funds, which ensured the projects that best met the needs of the local community were supported.
“We look forward to seeing these projects delivered and to supporting more local initiatives in future,” he said.
Applications for Round 2 of the Waterloo Wind Farm Community Fund, offering a further $10,000 in community grants, will open in August.
