Stakeholders
EnergyAustralia defines its stakeholders as those who affect and/or could be affected by its activities, products or services. This does not include all those who may have knowledge or views about EnergyAustralia.
Stakeholder Engagement Approach
Engagement with stakeholders is a key part of EnergyAustralia’s business as a provider of an essential service. EnergyAustralia continues to develop and build trusting relationships with its stakeholders in order to operate sustainably.
In 2008/09, EnergyAustralia adopted the AccountAbility, United Nations Environment Programme and Stakeholder Research Associates Stakeholder Engagement Standard to guide its approach to stakeholder engagement in a more effective and consistent manner. By the end of June 2009, EnergyAustralia completed Stage 1 of the Standard, which entailed four components:
- Part 1 - Mapping stakeholders;
- Part 2 - Setting strategic objectives for engagement;
- Part 3 - Identifying material issues; and
- Part 4 - Prioritising stakeholders and issues.
